Welcome to the Happy Hounds family Bear! 🐻 Adventure-based training isn’t about letting your dog do whatever they please, it’s about building a dog who genuinely feels safe and confident in the world. When that foundation is there, good manners follow naturally. That’s the difference between a dog who behaves because they have to, and one who thrives because they want to. Another week, another adventure. They came, they sniffed, they thrived! With almost a decade of daycare experience across multiple businesses, I can tell you firsthand the lack of regulation in the dog daycare world can be a scary thing. I was not prepared for the Hannah Montana 20th anniversary to hit this hard. But The Climb came on and I just kept thinking, this is literally the reactive dog mom anthem. The mom who’s been putting in the work for months and still had a hard walk today. The mom who’s postpartum and overwhelmed and wondering if her dog will ever adjust. Progress in this world is never a straight line. But you’re still on the climb. You’ve got this because “ ain’t about how fast I get there”. Now that it’s officially spring, those family walks you’ve been dreaming about are right around the corner! Here’s how to get your dog ready! ✔️Building confidence Don’t rush the sniffs! Sniffing helps dogs take in the world around them, like checking their version of social media but it also helps them settle. A dog that’s sniffing is a dog that feels safe enough to be curious. That’s the whole point! It’s also a great reminder for us to slow down and enjoy the birds singing and feel the sun! Who did it better? Us with her favorite dog products or the men on dating apps with their fish?
